A short interview with Quvenzhane Wallis
Posted February 22, 2013
At Thursday's star-packed Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon in Beverly Hills, Beasts of the Southern Wild actress Quvenzhane Wallis was as much the belle of the ball as main guest of honor Oprah Winfrey.
Wallis, 9, worked the red carpet like a pro, amid cameras flashing and microphones stuck in her face at every step.
Here's how our chat went the Louisiana-born youngest Oscar nominee in history.
How are you?
Excited to meet Oprah?
"I've already met her."
What do you think of her?
And what does today mean to you?
"Um, a lot of things."
How are you feeling about the Oscars?
"I can't believe I'm going to the Oscars. It's all fun."
Will you carry a puppy purse on Oscar night?
"My mom knows, and if you watch you'll probably see."
Are you tired?
How will you celebrate if you win?
"Eating crawfish, whenever I get back home."
