TV tonight: 'American Idol,' 'Cosby' reunion
Posted February 26, 2013
American Idol | Fox, 8 ET/PT
We're one week away from the first live show of what is still TV's best singing contest, which means we're also one week away from seeing the judges as they really are, rather than how the show wants them to be seen. As always, the best course is to reserve judge judgment until then.
Guys With Kids | NBC, 8:30 ET/PT
Here's good news for fans of The Cosby Show: Tempestt Bledsoe and Keshia Knight Pulliam are reuniting on an NBC sitcom, with Pulliam once again playing Bledsoe's little sister, just as she did on that historic comedy classic. The less-good news, of course, is that this reunion is happening on Guys With Kids, a bland mush of a show that reaches its seasonal and, you'd have to think, series finale tonight. Though considering NBC brought back Whitney and Community and has yet to officially give up on Up All Night, you'd be unwise to take any cancellation for granted.
Law & Order: SVU | NBC, 9 ET/PT
Remember how some Oscar viewers were offended when Seth MacFarlane turned Chris Brown's assault on Rihanna into a punchline for a joke? (For the record, I think the couple are public figures and fair game, so the joke didn't offend me, but it's an incredibly close call and I can see why others vehemently disagree.) Well, now Law & Order: SVU does what L&O shows have always done - taking that headline-provoking case and turning it into an episode about a promising young singer who is attacked by her boyfriend. We'll see if that's better.
